5 Questions with Kristen Pechacek

In this edition of 5 Questions, Pechacek shares how her digital first foundation informs her leadership as President and CEO of MassageLuXe. She opens up about balancing data with empathy, building a brand rooted in purpose, and redefining what growth looks like in the wellness franchise space. Her insights offer a masterclass in leading with both precision and heart, lessons any franchise leader can learn from.

You began your career in digital marketing and social media before moving into franchise leadership. How has that early foundation shaped the way you approach innovation and growth at MassageLuXe today?

Absolutely, my background in digital marketing gave me a deep appreciation for data, storytelling, and customer connection. Early in my career, I learned that innovation doesn’t always mean reinventing the wheel, sometimes it means rethinking how we listen and respond. At MassageLuXe, we take a digital first approach to everything, from franchise development and guest engagement to internal communication. That mindset keeps us nimble, customer focused, and always ready to adapt as technology and expectations evolve.

MassageLuXe has seen remarkable growth under your leadership. How do you balance data driven decision making with the human side of franchising, supporting franchisees, guests, and team culture?

Data gives us the clarity we need to make smart, scalable decisions. But culture gives us the foundation to sustain them. I believe the best leaders are translators, they take insights and turn them into action that serves people. Every metric we track at MassageLuXe connects back to people, the guest experience, the franchisee journey, the employee’s sense of belonging. Leading with both data and heart means we don’t have to choose between performance and purpose, we can deliver both.

The wellness space is crowded. What do you think makes the MassageLuXe experience stand out, both for franchisees and for customers seeking self care?

MassageLuXe stands out because we stay true to our mission, delivering accessible luxury through consistency, care, and community. For our guests, that means a spa experience that feels both indulgent and attainable. For our franchisees, it’s a proven model supported by a passionate team that genuinely believes in what we do. Wellness isn’t just a service, it’s a promise to make people’s lives better. That shared belief is what fuels our success.

You’ve said your goal was to expand MassageLuXe to 250 units in five years. What key strategies or innovations do you believe will fuel that next stage of franchise development?

Growth is about momentum, but it’s also about alignment. We’re focused on optimizing every touchpoint of the franchise journey, from discovery to onboarding to ongoing support. Technology will continue to play a huge role, helping us personalize training, streamline communication, and enhance operational performance across locations. We’re also leaning into new markets and partnerships that share our vision of wellness as a necessity, not a luxury. The combination of smart systems and human passion is what will take us there.

You’ve been recognized as one of the Top 100 Most Influential Women in Franchising. What does that recognition mean to you personally, and what advice would you share with other women aspiring to lead in the franchise world?

It’s incredibly humbling, but what means the most to me is the opportunity to represent what’s possible. Leadership isn’t about having all the answers, it’s about staying curious, leading with empathy, and lifting others as you climb. To women who want to lead in franchising, don’t wait to be ready, because growth happens in the doing. Surround yourself with people who challenge and support you, and never lose sight of why you started.

Kristen Pechacek’s career is proof that digital savvy and human connection aren’t opposites, they’re the future of effective leadership. At MassageLuXe, that balance has become the brand’s greatest strength, driving both business results and a culture rooted in care.
